Open a session by double-clicking it in the Sessions library (or right-click → Analyze Session). Since 1.5.3 you can also double-click a session file in Finder on a Mac — see Importing Sessions. It appears as a row under Session analysis in the sidebar and stays open until you close it.
While the file is being read, the pane shows how far along it is rather than an unmarked spinner.
Tabs and windows
- Open as many sessions as you like — each is its own row, titled with its track, date and time, and each keeps its own state: which channels are plotted, how far you've zoomed, which laps you're comparing.
- Reorder rows by dragging. Close with the × that appears on hover, or right-click → Close.
- Rename a tab to anything you want (double-click, or right-click → Rename) and give it a Finder-style color label.
- Drag a tab out of the window to open it in its own window. Drag it into another window — or back into the main one — to move it, like browser tabs. Detached windows hold as many tabs as you like and reopen where you left them.
- Tabs you leave open reopen next launch, if Reopen analysis tabs on launch is on in Settings.
Several sessions together
Added in 1.7.5. Select two or more sessions in the Sessions library, right-click, and choose Analyze N Sessions Together…. A sheet lists them, says what AimMac makes of them, and offers two ways to open them:
- A combined session — for sessions from the same vehicle and the same logger, such as a day's outings downloaded as separate files. They open as one session, with laps numbered by run the way a multi-run session's are ("Lap 2/3" is the third lap of the second run), and the videos linked to each session come along.
- A comparison — for different drivers, vehicles or loggers, or sessions recorded at the same time. It opens as a new tab with a lap list for each session and each session's fastest lap already selected. Choose which session leads in the sheet; the lead session's video is the one shown.
In a comparison the quickest lap of all is highlighted brightest and each other session's best more quietly. Click a session's heading in the Laps list to rename it. Laps can't be renamed or removed there — do that in the session itself.
Either way this is a view: nothing is added to your library and the sessions themselves are untouched. It stays open like any other tab and goes when you close it.
Saved analyses
Added in 1.5.3. A tab remembers how you left it, but only until you close it. A saved analysis keeps it for good: the panes, the compared laps and their colors, the split division, the reference laps, the video.
- Closing a tab you have arranged offers to save it. It only asks when something actually changed, so closing a session you only glanced at asks nothing — and the prompt can be turned off in Settings → General. The tab stays open behind the prompt until you answer it: Save, Don't Save, or Cancel to keep the tab after all.
- Opening that session again offers what you saved, with Start Fresh as the other choice. Right-click an entry in that list to rename or delete it.
